Wrinkles
Wrinkles on the face are caused by a number of different factors, including sun damage, aging, heredity, and smoking. At The Bellevue Laser & Cosmetic Center, we specialize in offering a variety of non-surgical cosmetic wrinkle treatments. Topical medications such as Retin A, anti-oxidants such as Vitamin A, C, E, and beta-carotene, and alpha hydroxy acids should be part of the treatment regimen for almost all patients. Lighter chemical peels, such as alpha hydroxy acid or glycolic acid peels, are helpful for smoothing the skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. More intensive peels, such as the TCA peel, will be more beneficial for more permanent reduction of wrinkles, but also involves some downtime.
Wrinkles in the frown line, forehead, and around the eyes are also known as “expression lines” and respond well to Botox or Dysport treatment. Wrinkles that are caused by volume loss in the face, such as lines around the mouth and the nasolabial folds (the “parentheses” around the mouth) respond well to tissue fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, or Radiesse. Dr. Chiu specializes in providing the Liquid Face Lift. This is a safe, non-invasive procedure using Botox or Dysport to relax the expression lines and advanced tissue filler techniques to revolumize the face and fill in wrinkles. The Liquid Face Lift instantly takes years off the face with very minor downtime.
Some patients may also benefit from Palomar LUX 1540 non-ablative fractional laser resurfacing. This laser treatment is helpful for fine lines and wrinkles, as well as improving texture and pigmentation. There is little downtime with this procedure, and it is safe for even darker skin types.
At a certain point, more severe sun damage and wrinkling may benefit from Fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing. This is the gold standard for reducing fine lines and deeper wrinkles, smoothing the texture of the skin, removing brown spots, evening skin tone, diminishing pore size, and tightening the skin. It can take 5 to 10 years off of your appearance in just one treatment!
